Belarusian biathlete Dinara Smolskaya said she was pleased with her performance in the mass start at the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup summer biathlon stage in Krasnoyarsk.
Smolskaya finished first, covering the 12.5-kilometer distance in 36 minutes 7.8 seconds and making three mistakes on four shooting ranges. Second place with a gap of 6.8 seconds was taken by the Russian Victoria Slivko (1 miss).
— It turned out to be a very fun final round. Vika and I managed to get through some places and smile and laugh a little in some places. It was interesting. It’s good when there is a fight. I didn’t realize right away that I could keep Victoria, but the skaters were fine, I managed to roll towards her and then they started working together.
Yesterday’s clean shot gave me strength. I realized that I could fight with the girls, but for some reason these two mistakes made me fall further and further back. It was a pleasure for me to race with Victoria Slivko. The fact that I managed to hold out against her is an achievement for me. I know how much she suffers in the last lap, so I’m happy that I managed to beat her,” Smolskaya told .
