Triple Olympic medalist Edouard Latypov spoke on about his shooting problems and also did not rule out that Alfa-Bank might miss the Russian Summer Biathlon Championship in Krasnoyarsk.
On Sunday, Latypov finished 24th in the mass start of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup summer biathlon. He committed eight penalties in four shooting stages and was 3 minutes 25.5 seconds behind winner Anton Smolsky of Belarus (0 penalties).
— At the end of last season, I was also not happy with the shooting. I decided to try something new. I changed the stock and the whole setup for this one. We are trying to find something new to improve our shooting and progression. We did that for six months and things didn’t really work out. These competitions were tests, but they don’t work out yet.
– What are you going to do next?
“I don’t know yet, we have to discuss everything and see what went wrong.” We have to understand the reason for the mistakes. They were quite distant and unusual for me.
— Do you understand what needs to be done to make the crisis pass?
“I have thoughts, but I have to think about them calmly.” My current condition is not such that I can make serious decisions. Functionally, I am well prepared, the only problems are in shooting. We must examine what is wrong with a sober head.
— Will you participate in the Russian Championship?
– Here is the question. We really need to understand what the reason is. [такой стрельбы]and don’t go to races and take away your moral strength. Bad races don’t bring anything positive. I have to understand this, and then move on and perform, showing the result I am capable of,” Latypov said on .
The Alfa-Bank Russian Championship will take place in Krasnoyarsk from September 12 to 15.
