Olympic biathlon champion Svetlana Sleptsova said she was not surprised by CAS’s decision to reject her appeal

Olympic biathlon champion Svetlana Sleptsova told she was not surprised by the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) decision to reject her appeal against disqualification for an anti-doping rule violation.

Sleptsova was disqualified for using ostarine for 2 years starting on 11 February 2020 and all of her results from the 2013/14 season were annulled. Sleptsova appealed the IBU decision to CAS. CAS then adjourned the appeal hearing until 2022. On Monday, it was announced that Sleptsova’s appeal had been dismissed and her results from the 2013/14 season had been annulled.

— Are you surprised by this decision of the CAS?

– Probably not surprised. 6 years have already passed, this story is starting to be forgotten, because everything drags on. If you hadn’t reminded me, I wouldn’t have remembered it.

“It is important to justify your reputation.”

– Certainly. I know my truth. I want to achieve justice, but I don’t know if it will be possible in the current conditions,” Sleptsova told .

Sleptsova is the 2010 Olympic relay champion, the 2009 world relay champion and the 2008 World Cup bronze medalist in the mixed relay. The 38-year-old Russian has five individual World Cup victories.

The biathlete retired after the 2017 Summer World Championships, where she won three gold medals.
