Russian biathlete Daniel Serokhvostov told that he had not yet fully recovered from his illness and would spend the near future with his parents in the Altai Territory.
On Tuesday, correspondent Dmitry Zanin reported that Serohvostov, along with Edouard Latypov And Karim Khalili left Krasnoyarsk after the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup stage and will not participate in the Russian Championship, which will be held from September 12 to 15.
In the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup sprint in Krasnoyarsk, Serokhvostov finished 18th with two penalties. Daniil missed the pursuit race and the mass start.
— Why did you decide to skip the Russian Championship?
— Because recently, during a training camp in Belarus, I contracted a virus, presumably covid. It was the last training camp before the competition, and the recovery was long. We thought it would be good to compete in Krasnoyarsk, but the Commonwealth Cup sprint showed that I was still in rather poor condition to run the race. It will do more harm than good. Therefore, Yuri Mikhailovich Kaminsky and I decided to go to train. Well, there is no point in staying in Krasnoyarsk, so I left.
When I recover, I will start training fully and will follow biathlon. Now I am at home, with my parents, in Zarinsk, Altai Territory. I will recover here and probably start training here. Maybe then I will move to Novosibirsk to be able to train in weapons.
— In the absence of Khalili, Latypov and the Belarusians, who is the big favourite for the Russian championship?
— These are the guys from our team, 100%. It seems to me that Roma Eremin is the favorite to win. He looks pretty strong now, and these starts allowed him to start again after a difficult training camp. I think he will do well at the Russian Championship. I will support him because he is my friend and we are from the region, ”Serokhvostov told .
