President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) Victor Maygurov assessed the level of organization of the summer stage of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup in Krasnoyarsk and discussed the possibility of holding winter competitions there.
The Commonwealth Cup stage took place from September 6 to 8, and the Russian Summer Championship began on Thursday in Krasnoyarsk.
— In my opinion, there is a very good team here that, regardless of the sport, knows what it is doing. I am ready to give a “ten” to the work of the organizing committee. There are no questions from us.
As for the winter, we have already planned this season; changes can be made only in case of force majeure. In March, we will hold the Russian Championship among boys aged 17-18 here. As for adult competitions in the winter, if there is a request from Krasnoyarsk when planning the calendar for the next season, we will be happy to consider it.
Recently, we have developed a tradition of holding the Russian winter championships alternately in Khanty-Mansiysk and Tyumen – this is due to weather conditions, as snow cover is guaranteed there. But no one prevents us from making some changes. Logistics are important for the movement of teams, but we can organize (the schedule) in such a way that in March the competitions will be held in the eastern direction,” the correspondent reports, citing Maygurov’s words.
