Ukrainian Yulia Dzhima withdrew from the competition a day before the event
Italian Lisa Vittozzi won the women’s race at the show City Biathlon-2024 in Dresden. Slovenian biathlete Yakov Fak became the winner among men.
The show race consisted of two stages. First, the athletes passed the qualification, then the main races took place in the mass start format. The distance included five laps and four firing lines, where each biathlete had three additional cartridges.
Vittozzi was nine seconds ahead of Germany’s Johanna Puff, who came in second. Third place went to Norway’s Caroline Knotten, who was 0.1 seconds ahead of Germany’s Franziska Preuss. It’s worth noting that Vittozzi won the event for the second year in a row.
Johannes Boe led the men’s race for a long time. The Norwegian lost his nine-second advantage on the last lap and was overtaken by Fak. Third place went to Justus Strehlow from Germany.
Let us recall that Yulia Dzhima planned to compete in City Biathlon 2024. However, the day before the start it became known that the Ukrainian would miss the event.
