The Austrian town of Hochfilzen will host the Biathlon World Championships in 2028, reports the press service of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
This decision was taken at a meeting of the IBU Congress. In 2029, the world championship will take place in Oslo (Holmenkollen). The IBU also examined the application of the Finnish Kontiolahti.
“We congratulate Hochfilzen and Oslo on their well-deserved selection as hosts of the 2028 and 2029 World Cups. Both cities are proven world-class biathlon venues and guarantee fantastic competition. “We also thank Kontiolahti for their excellent presentation and we are confident that they will continue to be important hosts of biathlon competitions,” said IBU President Olle Dahlin.
Oslo hosted the World Cup in 2016, Hochfilzen in 2017.
