Teryushkov invited McLaren to accept Russian conditions for the return of athletes to international tournaments

Deputy of the State Duma Roman Tereshkov told that a statement Richard McLaren there is little about admitting Russian athletes to international tournaments, as Russians must perform under their own flag and anthem.

Earlier, the head of the independent World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commission investigating the 2014 Olympics doping scandal case, McLaren, in an interview with Sportschau, called for the admission Russian athletes at international competitions.

– If he asked that the Russians be allowed in, then we should be allowed in with a flag and an anthem. Here, he must agree to our terms, unconditionally. We have to play with our flag and our anthem! No one has the right to take away their homeland, their sovereignty. Especially after February 24. If earlier this could be done somehow, now it is categorically unacceptable,” Teryushkov said.

In 2016, McLaren wrote a report in which he stated that in Russia there was a state system that manipulated doping samples and covered up athletes. In 2017, Vitaly Smirnov, who headed the Independent Public Anti-Doping Commission, said McLaren had dropped allegations of state support for Russian doping.

Earlier, the International Olympic Committee called on international sports federations to withdraw Russian athletes from official competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
