Dmitrenko: I want to progress, consistently get into the top 20 or top 30

Christina is satisfied with her work at the training camp

Ukrainian biathlete Kristina Dmitrenko spoke about preparations for the upcoming season and the tasks that will be set for the team.

“This season, the training camps took place in the same places as last year. There was nothing so new in the locations. Basically the work is the same, only we do more volumes. I can’t single out anything, everything is great.”

“After the summer World Cup, we focused more on those areas that need to be improved – shooting. It was clear that the start was not enough. Volumetric work is focused by time. We do not do 1:20-1:30 hours, but two hours of training. We are also gaining volume in kilometers, shooting a lot, going to the gym.”

“After the training camp we go to Hydre and there we plan 16-17 [ноября] start at the Swedish Championship. These will not be qualifiers [старты]but just for overclocking. And it’s already 20-22 [ноября] there will be two qualifying races for the World Cup and the Cup. IBU.”

“We will have a long season, so the main aspect is to perform consistently. I want a more progressive and better result. It’s more stable to get into the top 20 or top 30: not just in one or two races, but to perform consistently.”

“I feel like everything will be fine. I recently had an examination – these were my best results, everything was on record. Yes, and from the sensations in training you feel that something must be good. Even in training, how I go through them, how I feel during work, there is a difference, comparing with last year, better health.”

At the end of the 2023/24 season, the Ukrainian women’s team moved up one place and took ninth place in the Nations Cup. The blue-and-yellows will be able to field five athletes, just like last season.

The 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup starts on November 30, 2024 in the Finnish city of Kontiolahti and ends on March 23, 2025 in Holmenkollen, Norway. The Biathlon World Championships will be held in Lenzerheide, Switzerland from February 12 to 23, 2025.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place in February of the same year in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Licenses for these Olympic Games will be awarded from the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
