Belova: We will finally decide on the composition of the team for the World Cup after the test start in Hydra on November 15-16

The goal for the season for the men’s biathlon team is to regain the maximum quota in the Nations Cup

Head coach Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Nadezhda Belova spoke about the final phase of the team’s preparation for World Cup 2024/25.

“The training camp took place, as they say, as usual. There were no special incidents with the organization of the training process. The only thing is that a number of athletes were sick, but it was not global. Someone could fall out of the training regime for two or three days, no more. And then I went into training.”

“On November 10 we will have a control start, this is a purely internal competition. Maybe based on its results the picture will become clearer. I also need this start for myself, as a coach, for analysis. And there will be a control start in Hydra. The main team of the Swedish team will start here, and the Norwegian B team is located here. I haven’t seen everyone who’s still here yet. In my opinion, the Bulgarian team will participate. We will start on November 15-16, and I will finally decide who will go to the IBU Cup and who will go to the World Cup.”

“The first task is to return the maximum quota in the Nations Cup. The fact that we lost one license and fell out of the top 10 is, of course, very bad. And it is very important to return the full squad to the World Cup races. Now, for example, I would have not four people going, but five.”

At the end of the 2023/24 season, the Ukrainian men’s team took 11th place in the Nations Cup and lost one quota for the World Cup. In the 2024/25 season, the blue-yellows will be able to field a maximum of four athletes.

The 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup starts on November 30, 2024 in the Finnish city of Kontiolahti. The elite season will end on March 23, 2025 in Holmenkollen, Norway.
