Wilde, 35, is from the United States. In May 2012, Vic received a passport as a citizen of the Russian Federation and after that he started playing for the Russian national team. At the Sochi Games in 2014, the snowboarder won gold in parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom.
In 2021, Wilde divorced Russian snowboarder Alena Zavarzina after 10 years of marriage. In 2022, after winning a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics in parallel giant slalom, Vic announced his retirement.
