The Executive Committee of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) approved Pavel Rostovtseva as president of the RBU coaching council, according to the organization’s website.
Rostovtsev is a three-time world champion and 2026 Olympic medalist in the relay race.
— First of all, I would like to emphasize that under the leadership of the former chairman of the coaching council, Vladimir Vladimirovich Bragin, the work of the coaching council and its executive committee was quite structured.
All current issues, sometimes very painful, have always been discussed to develop a collegial decision. First of all, these are questions related to the organization of the work of a coach in Russian biathlon. Therefore, the coaching council will certainly continue the line drawn under Vladimir Vladimirovich. A big thank you to him: he served two terms and leaves a very nice legacy.
— For biathlon fans, can you briefly describe the range of issues addressed by the coaches council?
– First of all, we have a fundamental document that describes this circle – the Regulations of the Coaching Council. Modifications are sometimes made depending on the challenges that real life poses to us. However, all work of the coaches council should be based on these regulations.
These are issues related to the preparation of the country’s national team, the formation of its composition, the list of candidates, their approval for certain competitions. This is preparation for meetings of the coaching council, analysis of the reports of our coaches and information about the work they have done,” Rostovtsev said, according to the RBU press service.
