Karim Khalili became the winner of the 12.5 km mass start as part of the YANGPUR Cup of the International Club Biathlon League (ILCL) in Khanty-Mansiysk. Among women, the best in the 10 km mass start was Victoria Slivko.
— What mini-results can we summarize from the first day, including in terms of organization?

We prepared the skis with paraffin alone, abandoning powders. As a result, everyone understood that the slippage would be worse. For the specialists and the riders themselves, this was expected.
Whether someone is better or worse, even with the same training and equipment, depends on many other factors. First of all, the quality of the skis themselves, they are different for all athletes. But if we had left everything as usual in terms of how the service worked, the difference would have been even greater. The quality of ski preparation depends not only on the availability of material resources, but also on a professional team of lubricants – the level varies too much depending on the region. When we introduced this, we planned to provide equal conditions for athletes to compete as much as possible. I think everything worked.
I expected more emotional criticism of this decision. But no, all the athletes reacted to this in such a way that yes, the skis worked less well, but everyone was in the same conditions. Therefore, I think this is the right decision,” Nuzhdov told .
