Olympic medalist Ivan Yakimushkin announced that he would not participate in the first stage of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Cup in Vershina Töya due to illness.
The stage in the Republic of Khakassia will take place from November 22 to 26.
— I didn’t fly to Top of Choi, I got pretty seriously ill, so I missed the all-star race, which upset me a lot, because it was an interesting new format, but that should recur. I hope to be able to participate in it next year because it brought up a lot of emotions when I saw it on television.
I will definitely miss the first stage of the Russian Cup, now I am still in Kirovsk, I want to go home to take an exam and resume training,” Yakimushkin said in a video posted on the Telegram channel.
