Anna Urazova, a 2022 Olympic participant and Russian short track speed skating champion, said she hopes to return to the international stage and does not want to compete for another team.
Urazova (née Vostrikova – Editor’s note) won the 1000m at the Russian Cup in Smolensk.
— Summer training courses were implemented as needed. These are good results for the stages of the Russian Cup, everything is going according to plan. Although it is possible to evaluate it as a whole only based on the results of the Russian Championship.
At this point it was very difficult as the ice cream was not of the best quality. It was quite fragile and didn’t always allow us to do everything we had in mind. If we are talking about 1000 m, we had to keep in mind the characteristics of the ice. It was impossible to be sure that in the event of acceleration the ice would not break. It was therefore necessary to lead the race and control it from the start. It was the optimal tactic on this ice at this point.
At 1500 m, I am not happy with my result. I ran poorly tactically, which didn’t allow me to gain this distance. I hope to eliminate these mistakes and win gold in the 1500m. I will do everything possible to win it at the Russian Championships.
– You took your husband’s last name. You didn’t want to stay Vostrikova?
— In my opinion, a family is when a husband and wife have the same last name. Now I will reach new heights – already under a new one.
— Since the ISU does not allow Russians to participate in international tournaments, was there a desire to change citizenship?
“I had no such desire.” I am a patriot, I love my country and I hope the situation is resolved. I hope everything goes well and we can soon show ourselves on the international stage. I don’t want to play for another country. I see myself only under the flag of Russia or, in extreme cases, in a neutral status,” Vostrikova told .
