Italian biathlete Lisa Vittozzi will miss the first stage of the 2024/25 World Cup due to back problems, reports the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI).
The start of the season will take place in Finnish Kontiolahti from November 30 to December 8. Vittozzi will train in Obertilliach, Austria, over the next few days, under the supervision of a coach from the Italian national team headquarters and the team physiotherapist.
— The winner of the Grand Crystal Globe is recovering from a back problem and has slowed down her preparations in recent weeks. The athlete, in agreement with the technical staff, decided to skip the race in Finland in order to improve his condition before the next stage in Hochfilzen, which will take place from December 13 to 15, the press release specifies.
Vittozzi won the overall World Cup last season. The 29-year-old Italian is a double world champion (relay and individual) and winner of the 2018 Olympic bronze medal in the mixed relay.
