Vittozzi will miss the first stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup

The owner of the Big Crystal Globe will not have time to fully recover before the start of the new season

Italian biathlete Lisa Vittozzi will miss the first stage World Cup 2024/25.

The owner of the Big Crystal Globe will not have time to fully recover before the start of the new season. The first starts are scheduled for November 30 in the Finnish Kontiolahti.

At the same time, Vittozzi must recover before the second stage, which starts on December 13 in Hochfilzen, Austria.

Vittozzi was previously included in the Italian national team’s squad for the starting stage. However, the Italian will not go to Finland due to back problems. Instead, she will work individually under the supervision of a physiotherapist in Obertilliach, Austria.

Let us remind you that 29-year-old Vittozzi won the Big Crystal Globe last season for the first time in her career and became the second Italian to achieve this achievement, after Dorothea Wierer. Lisa also won two Small Crystal Globes – in the individual and pursuit races.

Earlier it also became known that Ukrainian biathlete Irina Petrenko would also miss the first stage of the 2024/25 World Cup.
