Russian biathlete Yevgeny Ustiougov filed an appeal against the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) with the Swiss Federal Court (SFT), reports the press service of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
The IBU announced on September 9 that the CAS had rejected Ustyugov and Svetlana Sleptsova’s appeal against the court’s decision in their anti-doping rule violation cases.
— Ustyugov appealed the CAS decision to the SFT. This CAS decision rejected a joint appeal filed by Mr. Ustyugov and another former athlete, Ms. Svetlana Sleptsova, who challenged the first instance verdicts issued by the IBU anti-doping panel in February 2020, which were based on the results of the Moscow Anti-Doping Committee. Ustyugov was found guilty of using the banned substance oxandrolone. The results presented by the athlete from August 27, 2013 until the end of the 2013/2014 season were canceled. Thus, the result of the Russian team in the relay at the Sochi-2024 Olympic Games was canceled.
Sleptsova and Ustyugov have already completed their sports careers.
