The Olympic champion urged not to judge and to support the biathlete who competed for Ukraine, who returned to Russia

Double Olympic champion in biathlon Dmitry Vasiliev urged not to “hang labels” on the biathlete Ekaterina Beh who once played for the Ukrainian national team and returned to Russia.

A native of Khabarovsk Territory, Bekh previously represented Russia in international competitions and made his debut for the Ukraine national team at the World Cup in the 2020/21 season. In April of this year, the athlete was expelled from the national team. In August, it became known that Beh, 23, will represent the Moscow region.

– What happened to Katya – don’t judge her. She is just a young athlete, she does not want to participate in political clashes, express her views on politics. Let’s rate her as an athlete with prospects. By dint of saying that she’s a traitor, someone else… She’s a pretty young girl who, I hope, has a bright future. Why hang tags? Let’s treat her as our own and support her in a difficult situation.

What is being said on the Ukrainian side. It was to be expected. Let them better think about how (Elena) Pidgrushnaya behaved after 2014, who received military awards from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Vasiliev said on the air of the program “There is a theme! ” on MatchTV.
