Leader Ukrainian biathlon team Dmitry Pidruchny was not included in the mixed relay team World Cup V Kontiolahti for health reasons. Senior coach of the Ukrainian national team Nadezhda Belova reported that Pidruchny had not trained for four days due to illness.
“Dmitry was in the plans [Пидручный]but unfortunately, Juraj Sanitra said that he was not feeling well and explained that he had not trained for four days. I won’t say exactly what I got sick with [Пидручный] – the doctor and the orderly will definitely say this. And then we decided that the third stage would be started by Dudchenko, and the fourth by Mandzyn. Why they are also a solution based on training, stability. their shooting and functionality, they performed well in the last test races.”
A single mixed race will be run tomorrow Artem Tishchenko And Elena Gorodnaya. It will start at 14:15 Kyiv time. Ukraine will be represented in the mixed relay (start at 16:45) Anton Dudchenko, Vitaly Mandzyn, Kristina Dmitrenko And Julia Jima.
Let us remind you that at the end of last week the composition of the men’s and women’s national teams of Ukraine for the first stage of the 2024/25 Biathlon World Cup became known.
The men’s team’s entry included five biathletes (in addition to those participating in tomorrow’s relay races, these are Dmitry Pidruchny and Bogdan Tsymbal). Following the results of last season, Ukraine lost one quota and can enter no more than four athletes for each individual race.
Six athletes made up the entry for the women’s team (including Anna Krivonos and the Merkushina sisters). Irina Petrenko, who recovered from a broken leg and will compete at the IBU Cup, did not receive the call.
The starting stage of the 2024/25 KM biathlon will be held in Kontiolahti from November 30 to December 8. On the first day of the competition there will be mixed and single mixed relays. Also at the first stage there will be a classic relay race, a short individual race, a sprint and a mass start.
