National team coach Russia biathlon Artem Istomine said that the athletes of his group would be ready to perform at the second stage of the PARI Commonwealth Cup, which will be held in Raubichi (Belarus).
On Wednesday it became known that Larisa Kuklina, Daniil Serokhvostov and Ksenia Dovgaya, who train in Istomin’s group, will not participate in the first stage of the Commonwealth Cup in Sochi. Alexander Loginov also took off from the start.
– The situation is not good. In Izhevsk they worked well, they filled the load. In the inter-gathering or at the start of training camp, they were asymptomatically sick with the coronavirus, now they are just beginning to recover. Even training loads are tough. We decided that they will not start here, but will be ready for Raubichi,” Istomin told the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) press service.
The specialist also spoke about the difficulties encountered by Svetlana Mironova to prepare for the new season.
– Mironova hasn’t been able to recover since the start of summer training. We look for ways, solutions, we work with specialists, but she cannot get involved in the process. First I had covid, then chickenpox. She has a low exercise tolerance. We took her to altitude early for acclimatization. We hoped it would happen here, but we realized it was useless,” added Istomin.
The stage in Sochi will take place from August 25 to 28, in Raubichi – from September 15 to 18.
