On Thursday, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, Irina Nizhelskaya, announced the opening of a criminal case. According to Business Online, investigators studied part of the construction documentation for the complex in Mirny and saw signs of a crime under the article “Fraud on a particularly large scale”, under which the perpetrators can incur up to to 10 years in prison.
Earlier in July, the head of the Biathlon Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ildar Nugmanov, told about the damage caused to the sports complex by heavy rains. According to the head of the federation, “there were violations of the sewage system during construction, the workers knew about it, but they did it in their own way.”
– Since I am worried about the development of sport in the country and in Tatarstan, this situation greatly displeased me from the very beginning. I talked about it on the air and I mean after that they called me. And when I was in Kazan, high-ranking officials of the republic came to me personally to talk, who assured me that everything was going according to plan, and I was supposed to just be hired by someone, or I didn’t don’t like Tatarstan. It is quite clear that theft flourishes among those who indulge in it.
They deceived both the sports management of the country and the leaders of Tarastan. Those people who said everything was fine deceived everyone. Now, I hope that the investigation will solve the problem. However, I was depressed by the RRF’s silence on this issue. The subject is sensitive. They were aware of the problems, but kept silent. But it’s a normal story, people are afraid of something. Although the development of biathlon in the country should not be managed by Dima Guberniev, but by the RRF, right? According to the description on the website of the Ski Racing and Biathlon Federation of Tatarstan, the construction of a sports complex for training and competitions in cross-country skiing and biathlon in the village of Mirny has been underway since 2019. The facility was expected to be completed in January 2022 and will be used as part of the 2023 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan.
