Double world champion Olga Zavyalova does not consider that the words of the five-time Norwegian Olympic ski champion Johannes Klebo will affect the admission of Russian athletes to international competitions.
Klebo said earlier that he would like to see Russian skiers competing internationally from the start of the new season.
“I can’t believe Klebo’s words will affect anything. If all foreign athletes spoke like that, expressed their opinion, then, perhaps, they would have been listened to. And so it’s just a vote, even if it comes from the leader of our sport.
First, it suggests that the athletes themselves understand that they have to compete with the strongest. After all, Norwegian skiers have always competed with Russia, and now they win the national championship in any tournament, RT quotes Zavyalova.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has suspended Russian athletes from competitions under its auspices due to events in Ukraine.
