Now the functionary is acting president of the FBU
President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine Vladimir Brynzak wrote a letter of resignation and left his post. According to him, since July 1, he has been acting president of the FBU.
“I know that the delegates would vote for me and [я] would definitely stay. But what happened after last season, when some athletes wanted to become president of the federation, started some work, the press was raised against me, some interviews. I don’t want to deal with it, because it was really hard. I always said that I will work until it is comfortable for coaches, athletes, as long as they are comfortable with me from the fact that I am in place.
“When I felt such a situation that they were dissatisfied with something or they didn’t like something, they did these interviews … Honestly, I’ll say that it’s morally difficult for me after that, I suffered serious stress.”
“Therefore, I do not see the opportunity to lead a federation in which I do not have full confidence in the athletes, they have in me. It affects, and in general it’s not my job, I don’t get [деньги за нее]a [работаю] as a volunteer. Someone says that I’m afraid for my post, because I wrote a statement on July 1, and I’m only acting [президента федерации биатлона] before the Conference. The conference will choose a worthy president, although I still have a moral [кандидата] I do not see”.
“Indeed, he created a system over many years, did everything, gave all his strength for biathlon. But this is life. I understand how experienced I am in life, what situations happen and how people use situations in wartime, these stresses … I understand all this, but for me it was serious what happened in recent months.
“My main task is to convey [полномочия] in the right and safe hands. Of course, if there is an adequate person, I will be there and pass on all my experience. Positions are not important to me – I will always help athletes and coaches. Until now, coaches have approached me on any issues that need to be urgently resolved – I help and solve. The process is already underway, it’s just psychologically and morally difficult.”
The meeting of the Presidium of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine was supposed to be held on May 18, but was postponed until the end of martial law in the country.
Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny is going to run for the post of FBU President. The athlete expressed indignation at the postponement of elections for the post of President of the Federation.
Recall that Brynzak refused to run for a new term in April, as reported by Kamp-Sport. The functionary has been leading the Ukrainian biathlon since 1998.
