— Viktor Alexandrovitch, tell us about the changes in the team before this season.
– This year we invited juniors, first years – there are even older boys. This roster has gone through several training camps, including the first on-ice training camp, and now we are on the eve of the second on-ice training camp. While the dynamic is positive, we are waiting for the first starts and we will see what we have won.
Among the adults we have Ruslan Zakharov, Daniil Aldoshkin, Yegor Yunin, Vladimir Semirunniy and Pavel Taran, a new person who came from Pavel Abratkevich. Additionally, we were joined by Elizaveta Golubeva and Ekaterina Efremenkova, who performs in short track. She trained with us, trying to try her hand at speed skating.
Young people Ivan Fruktov, Dmitry Burakov, Ksenia Korzhova, Anastasia Semenova, Irina Salnikova work with us. Ilya Ebinger also trained with us.
– Tell us about the transition of Elizaveta Golubeva. Will she have any changes in remote priorities?
– His range was from the 1000m to the mass start, excluding the 5000m. I don’t know what about the 1000m, but I think it will be the same over 5000m, especially since no one has canceled the all-around.
– Katya Efremenkova herself expressed a desire to train with you?
– Everything was exactly as it was in his time with Ruslan Zakharov. Then Alexey Yuryevich Kravtsov spoke to me and told me that there was a short track athlete who wanted to try his hand at speed skating.
In the case of Ekaterina, Victoria Leonidovna Gogotova spoke to me. Experience has already been. Otherwise, it all depends on the person, on the discipline. I have nothing to say about the discipline of work. Short track skating has good traditions, Katya works with full dedication.
– What is your first big departure?
– Everything is going so well that it will be “In memory of BI Shavyrin” competitions. From these starts and the Russian Cup, the athletes will be selected for the Russian Championship, which will be held at the end of December.
– Where did you have time to train during the summer?
– The first introductory rally took place in Adler. Then we went to a cycling meeting in Minsk. In June, we climbed the mountains of Kazakhstan, and in July in Irkutsk, for the first time in this offseason, we went on ice. The first training cycle is over. Then we trained again in Kazakhstan, and now in September we are waiting for the ice training camp in Irkutsk. Then there will be Kolomna, just before the competition.
— How is the psychological situation in the team? Not feeling discouraged by the lack of international departures?
– We are not talking about this topic, but, probably, there is. Especially among experienced athletes, with rich experience of playing in international tournaments. But, in principle, everyone is optimistic, they hope that the Ministry of Sports will not leave us unguarded and that there will be competitions where the guys can prove themselves and be stimulated.
– Until now, no one is going to change their nationality? There were no such proposals for the guys?
– There were no such proposals. Well, if we weren’t drawn to China, then…
– Why, by the way, was it not possible to “attract you to China”?
– The offer was very attractive, but I wanted to continue what I had started here, with the team.
– Has anything changed in the work structure? You have a new leadership in the federation.
– A new team has arrived. I understand it’s very difficult for them in the current circumstances – they have to approve the schedule, the regulations. We will soon have a meeting with Nikolai Alekseevich Gulyaev.
– Do you want more starts or are those in the provisional schedule enough now?
— There are a sufficient number of starts. I think that’s enough for now. It will be interesting to perform in Kemerovo. Never been to this rink before. In one of the projects, a stage of the Russian Cup was also planned there, but it was removed from the schedule – we will get out of the list. Of course, I would like to run a start there even before the Russian Championship, but it does not matter, we will have a training camp.
– Do you hope that international competitions appear at least in the second half of the season? Or, nevertheless, they have already been implemented and accepted – this season there will be competitions only on the Russian national calendar.
– Rather, the second, but, of course, we hope for the best.
