“We continue to work on implementing measures so that Russian athletes receive competitive experience and prize money at the level they are used to” – Chernyshenko

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitri Chernychenko participated in the conference “Sport in the Far East: creating new opportunities” within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

– I would like to tell you how we see the situation from the government’s point of view, how we intend to rely on the Far East region to develop our sport. It is a promising platform. It is a platform for fruitful relationships with our partners.

We have friendly countries with whom we are renewing our relations. I’m talking about the SCO, the BRICS and the CIS countries. There is already a positive experience in the same game of chess, when an organization is no longer formed under FIDE. We continue to work on the implementation of measures in the field of physical culture and sports, so that the competition process, despite all external sanctions and restrictions, runs smoothly and smoothly. For athletes to gain competitive experience and prize money at the level they are used to.

The Ministry of Sports has prepared a program for the construction and reconstruction of sports training centers for our national teams throughout the country. We need to replace the sites where our athletes have trained abroad. It’s time to create your own bases. More than five billion rubles will be allocated for the development of this infrastructure. 187 “smart sites” will be built in the regions as part of the “Business Sprint” project. 25 of them will appear literally in the next few months, or before the end of the year in the Far East.

Citizen involvement in grassroots sports is growing. In 2021, the share of citizens who regularly play sports was 47.9%. Our most sporting region is the Sakhalin region. Primorsky Krai is in second place, Buryatia is third, Chernyshenko said.
