Biathlete Khalili on Beh’s performance in Belarus: “It’s not a bad result after such a long break”

Russian national team biathlete Karim Khalili said seventh place in the sprint at the Commonwealth Cup stage in Belarus can be called a good result for his girlfriend Catherine Beh .

A native of Khabarovsk Territory, Bekh played for the Ukrainian team in the World Cup in the 2020/21 season. In April this year, the 24-year-old athlete was expelled from the national team and returned to Russia. Khalili finished sixth in the men’s sprint on Thursday.

“Today I didn’t feel the best remotely because some wounds didn’t go around me, so my condition leaves a lot to be desired,” Khalili told reporters.

– Some kind of global problem in the Russian team, everyone has sores…

– Yes, something at the end of the preparatory period covered everyone from some kind of illness. I hope this season will pass us all.

– How do you rate the performance of Ekaterina Bekh?

– I think for the first start after such a long break, she showed a good result.

— What are your expectations of the IBU Congress?

– I prepare the season, wherever it takes place. I have tasks for me to grow and move forward, and there they will already look at the circumstances and accept them.

Victory in the women’s sprint in Raubichi was won by Russian Natalya Gerbulova, and Belarusian Anton Smolsky became the best in the men’s race.

Biathletes from Russia and Belarus are currently not allowed to compete under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) due to the situation in Ukraine. The IBU Congress will be held September 15-18 in Salzburg, Austria.
