Biathlete Ekaterina Bekh said that after returning to Russia, she received several offers from regional teams, but made a choice in favor of the Moscow region.
A native of Khabarovsk Territory, Bekh made his debut for the Ukraine national team at the World Cup in the 2020/21 season. In April this year, the 24-year-old athlete was kicked out of the national team. On Thursday, the biathlete made her PARI Commonwealth Cup debut in Belarus, taking seventh place in the sprint with two standing shot misses.
– Satisfied with the race, 70% completed all the tasks. Above all, you had to feel the shot. I started training in June, thanks to Alexei Viktorovich Nuzhdov, who supported me, equipped me with everything I needed. Also, thanks to coach Nikolai Petrovich Lopukhov,” Beh told reporters.
– In addition to the Moscow region, were there options to move to other regions?
“I’m not going to hide, there were options. I don’t want to name which ones, but there were.
— Who helped you prepare for these competitions: the coach, Karim Khalili or someone else?
“First, I settled down. The presence of family helps. They unfortunately could not be there, but we communicate by telephone. My sister actively supports and motivates me. This race result is thanks to them.
– What are your plans after the performance at the Russian Championship?
– After the Russian Championship in Tchaikovsky, I go to the stages of the Russian Cup, I plan to compete in all the races. Then there will be a little break, I will go to my family to take emotions and recharge, then we will go to the first snows.
– Is it comfortable to work with Lopukhov? He is considered a pretty tough coach.
— I feel very comfortable working with him, because he was the one who introduced me to biathlon. Further on, our paths diverged a bit, but all these years he stayed in touch, instigated somewhere. Now our tandem has resumed.
