“I had an illness at the start of the Terskol camp. The condition is not the best now ”- skier Yakimushkin

Beijing Olympics silver medalist, Russian skier Ivan Yakimushkin in a conversation with a correspondent, he admitted that he had to deal with an illness during a training camp in Terskol in August.

Earlier, coach Yuri Borodavko said that many skiers in his group were sick, which is why they could not participate in the Russian summer championship in Tyumen. Nevertheless, Yakimushkin participated in the competition.

– I had an illness in Terskol at the beginning of the camp. I got sick, probably before all the guys. Therefore, I have already started the Russian Championship, because I had a little more time to recover. However, I don’t know how it affected the preparation. At that time there were no starts, so there is nothing to compare with the current results.

The condition is still not the best, of course. Nevertheless, summer has just ended and preparations are underway for winter. Trying to win everywhere and always is more of a youthful maximalism. We understand this is difficult. And winning in both summer and winter is doubly difficult. Yes, until he turned out to be in this state to fight for prizes. But I hope we are going in the right direction,” Yakimushkin told .
