Winner of the Speed Skating World Championships Evgenia Lalenkova participated in test races in Minsk before the season opener and became the best at a distance of 1000 meters.
Lalenkova injured her hand during the offseason. In Minsk, she won with a result of 1 minute 19.26 seconds, second was Irina Kuznetsova (1: 19.62), third – Alexandra Kravchenko (1: 21.90).
“We didn’t make that start, and it was useless,” Lalenkova told . – We ran 500 and 1000m today – in terms of speed, these are very low seconds. The only thing that can be noted is the difference between the first and the second round of 1000m in my limits. There is no acceleration at all yet, but we have to look at tomorrow’s “troika” – sprint distances for a stayer at the start of the season are usually very difficult in terms of the fact that they have to run, but so far there was nowhere. At the same time, the volumes in training camp were big, especially since I missed a lot.
There were also test competitions for 500 and 1000 meters for men. Stepan Chistyakov (36.93) won the “500”, Yegor Koryakovsky (37.14) was second, Philip Smagin (37.36) was third. In the men’s 1000m, Nikolai Trusov won (1:14.37), Anton Brankovsky (1:14.47) of the Belarus national team was second (1:14.47), Philip Smagin was third ( 1:15.53). Over a distance of 500 meters for women, the Russian Irina Kuznetsova won (39.26).
