Malyshko ended his career as a biathlete, he does not train or participate in competitions, Kasperovich said

Winner of the biathlon world championship Dmitri Malychko ended his sports career, the head coach of the St. Petersburg national team told Alexander Kasperovitch.

A multiple World Cup winner and European champion, Malyshko hasn’t competed since 2019. As of the 2020/21 season, he is no longer part of the national squad for centralized training.

– There is practically no information (about Malyshko). I know he is engaged in social activities. This weekend there is a tournament for Malyshko’s prizes. As far as I know, he ended his career, but I don’t know his further fate, Kasperovich told .

– You, as the head coach of the St. Petersburg team, do not rely on this athlete?

“We have to be realistic about this. The athlete ended his career. We hoped that he would come back and continue to perform, but we see that he is not participating anywhere: neither in training nor in competitions, so we look at it realistically – the athlete is finished.

Malyshko competed in the winning relay race for the Russian team at the Sochi Olympics, but after Yevgeny Ustyugov was found guilty of doping, the team’s result was overturned.
