Russian Biathlon Cup final should be moved from Sochi, says RBU

The final of the Russian Cup in biathlon, which is to be held from February 11 to 14, will most likely be moved from Sochi, reports Sergey Averyanov, head of the press service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), on the channel Telegram.

According to Averyanov, the reason for the transfer is economic, because “it is too expensive for many regional federations to send their teams there even at a sporting rate.” One of the transfer options is Tchaikovsky, and the final decision is expected to be made before early November.

The RBU representative also noted that the transfer of the Commonwealth Cup stages of Belarusian Raubichi is not ruled out.

– After Russia’s sports ministry temporarily excluded overseas training and competitions from the unified calendar plan, the status of January’s two Commonwealth Cup stops in Raubichi is not entirely clear. For the moment, our athletes will not be able to get there. We will consult with the Ministry of Sports and colleagues from Belarus, optionally the stages can take place in Russia if the situation does not change,” wrote Averyanov.
