Skier Ustyugov called the suspension of international departures a benefit for himself

Olympic relay champion 2022, Russian skier double world champion Sergei Ustyugov how it relates to the suspension of international competitions.

– To be honest, it’s even a plus for me if we only race in Russia. As Saveliy Korostelev said in a recent interview, we are constantly racing with the leaders, with the best skiers in the country. Of course, there is nothing good in the fact that Russian skiers will miss the international season. But I’m talking about my steeple. I don’t need to be in top form at the start of the season and prove my right to participate in the World Cup. I can choose the races where I will start, and no one will take my place, – quotes the words of Ustyugov “Championship”.

The International Ski Federation (FIS) followed the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee in March and suspended Russians from competitions due to the situation in Ukraine until the end of the season. In July, the ban was extended. The head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, said the FIS is expected to make a decision on the admission of Russian athletes in early October.
