Norway will not participate in FIS commission meetings due to the presence of Russian representatives

Norwegian Ski Federation representative Thorbjorn Broks Pettersen said the organization refused to participate in International Ski Federation (FIS) events in Switzerland due to the presence of Russian representatives.

The annual meetings of the FIS committee will take place in Zurich from 28 to 30 September.

I was already going to the train, but now I stay at home. I have just been informed that the Norwegian delegation will not be going. Now it’s hard to sit down in a meeting with the Russians, VG quotes Pettersen.

The FIS press service reminded that the suspension of the representatives of Russia and Belarus from the competition applies only to athletes.

– The current FIS policy regarding the participation of Russia and Belarus only applies to athletes and not to officials. Therefore, all members of the FIS committees have the right to participate in the meetings, the FIS said in a statement.

At the end of February, the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations not allow Russians and Belarusians to compete in events in Ukraine. The FIS has suspended Russian skiers from March 1.
