Ukrainian boxers held a protest at the European Junior Championships

Athletes were forced to box under a neutral flag

The Ukrainian junior boxing team held a protest at the European Championship, which takes place in Montesilvano, Italy.

Ukraine at the Junior European Championship 2022 is represented by 26 athletes. However, boxers will not be able to compete under the flag of their country due to a conflict between the International Boxing Federation (IBA) and FBU.

Earlier, the IBA suspended the activities of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine. The association considered that the state bodies of Ukraine are interfering in the work of a sports organization.

On February 22, an extraordinary reporting and election conference of the FBU was held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. Representatives of 17 regional federations elected Kirill Shevchenko as the new president of the FBU, but the previous head of the organization, Vladimir Prodivus, refused to consider the elections legal.
