According to information from “UOL Esporte”, Jofre died due to urinary sepsis and acute renal failure. The national sports idol still suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a disease known as ‘boxing dementia’, which was diagnosed in 2015.

Born in March 1936, Éder Jofre is considered one of the greatest boxers in all of history. Known as “Golden Rooster”, he was world bantamweight champion in 1960 and 1962.
