According to boxing analysts, Jemaine is known for his boxing skills – 100 wins and 14 losses in the amateur ring, participation in the 2016 Olympic qualifying tournament, the nickname “Technician” – and calm character. Ortiz has the WBC Youth World Championship title (2019), NABF and USBA regional belts. The latter he won by defeating Jamell Herring. This win, by the way, brought Jemaine to the TOP-10 of the WBC rankings – Ortiz has the ninth position so far.

Before the fight with Lomachenko, Jemaine visited Puerto Rico, where he not only worked with one of his trainers – Alex Caraballo, but also held a number of “marketing” events, the purpose of which was to increase his personal popularity outside the United States.

“There is no better lightweight in Puerto Rico right now than me and I feel like I can win the love of the local fans. I hope they will accept me with open arms,” said Ortiz.
