The former world champion is confident that the young boxers did the right thing in refusing to participate in the tournament.
Former light heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk made a statement about the fact that the Ukrainian junior boxing team was banned from competing under the national flag at the European Championships in Montesilvano, Italy.
The athlete supported the Ukrainian boxers, saying that they did the right thing by refusing to participate in the competition.
“I support the decision of our Ukrainian youth boxing team not to agree to the humiliating conditions of OTHERS. Dignity is more important than medals. Glory to Ukraine,” Gvozdyk said in a video posted on Instagram stories.
It will be remembered that the International Boxing Association (IBA), headed by Russian Umar Kremlev, forbids Ukrainians to compete under the national flag.
