International Boxing Association continues to be suspended from hosting tournament at 2024 Olympics – IOC

The International Boxing Association (IBA) is still suspended from holding the qualifying tournament and competitions for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, told the International Olympic Committee (IOC) press service.

On Wednesday, the IBA board cleared boxers from Russia and Belarus to compete under the organisation’s auspices with the decision taking effect immediately.

– Recognition by the International Boxing Association (IBA) was previously suspended by the IOC in 2019 and remains suspended. The IOC has also suspended the IBA from hosting qualifying and competitions for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The IOC Executive Board will review the general situation of boxing at its next meeting, including other recent events, such as the results of an extraordinary congress, the IOC press service told .

The IOC suspended IBA membership in 2019. The Tokyo Games boxing tournament was held under the auspices of a special IOC commission.
