Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under the organisation’s auspices, noting that this should give impetus to defending the rights of Russians in other sports.
On Wednesday, the board of directors of the International Boxing Association (IBA) voted to admit boxers from Russia and Belarus to competitions under the organization’s auspices with the decision taking immediate effect.
“Allowing Russian boxers to compete under their own flag should give impetus to efforts to uphold the rights of Russian athletes in other sports,” Peskov said as quoted by RIA Novosti Sport.
