Athletistic/ Boxing. Former undisputed world boxing champion, American Roy Jones Jr., wrote an open letter. He believes that the IOC should listen to the decisions taken by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
“Right now the IOC is threatening the entire boxing family, and now the future of our sport in the Olympics hangs in the balance. All I wanted to say out loud, I explained in an open letter that I sent to the IOC.
I am convinced that the IBA is on the right track. Let the organization work. Let the past be the past! I really hope that the IOC will reconsider its attitude to the situation and start cooperating.
I urge the IOC to listen to the boxing community, which demands transparent solutions. Our sport has given us everything. It’s time for us to give our sport our all!” wrote Roy Jones.
At the beginning of October, the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of the organization.
