Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be allowed to the European Women’s Boxing Championship, as the list of participants is already closed

However, they will be able to compete in all subsequent competitions.

European Boxing Confederation (EUBC) will not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete at the European Women’s Championship 2022, despite the decision International Boxing Association (I.B.A.). The list of participants is closed, however, representatives of the aggressor countries will be able to take part in all subsequent tournaments.

“EUBC has received the IBA’s decision to allow boxers from the Russian Boxing Federation and the Belarusian Boxing Federation to compete again in IBA competitions. EUBC, in accordance with this decision, will allow these athletes to compete in EUBC sanctioned competitions after the upcoming European Women’s Elite Championship starting next week (13 October 2022) in Budva, as the list of participants has already been drawn up and closed.”

It should be reminded that the board of directors of the International Boxing Association allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to compete under the auspices of the IBA.

President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine and vice-president of the IBA Volodymyr Prodivus said that the vote for the resumption of the participation of boxers from the aggressor countries took place in secret.

Earlier, the IBA suspended the activities of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine. The organization considered that the state bodies of Ukraine were interfering in the work of the sports organization.
