The International Boxing Association returned Russians and Belarusians to amateur boxing
Former world heavyweight champion Vladimir Klichko commented on the decision International Boxing Association (IBA) allow Russians and Belarusians to participate in international competitions.
“Can you knock yourself out? Yes. The IBA is an example and makes a mockery of itself in front of the whole world, despising humanistic and universal values. Boxing deserves much better. What a disgrace”.
Earlier, the Board of Directors of the International Boxing Association (IBA) voted to allow boxers from Russia and Belarus to compete in IBA competitions.
Earlier, the president of the IBA, Russian Umar Kremlev, called for Russian and Belarusian athletes to be returned to all sports competitions.
The IBA also confirmed the permission for Ukrainian boxers to compete under the national flag in international tournaments. Earlier, the IBA suspended the activities of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine. The organization considered that the state bodies of Ukraine were interfering in the work of the sports organization.
