Sirenko: The admission of Russian and Belarusian boxers to competitions is a vile revenge of the Russian Kremlin on Ukrainians

Ukrainian heavyweight believes that the leadership of the IBA threatens the admission of boxers to the Olympics

Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Vladislav Sirenko believes that the president’s personal dislike for Ukrainians is behind the admission of Russians and Belarusians to boxing competitions International Boxing Association (IBA) Russian Umar Kremleva.

“Cynicism and irrationality – such forms of worldview are inherent in all Russians, and the head of the IBA is no exception.

“There is an impression that the decision of the IVA (and on “political neutrality in boxing” – the admission of Russian and Belarusian boxers to international competitions, and earlier the decision was made on the performance of the Ukrainian team at the European Championship among juniors under the “neutral” flag of the IVA, and not Ukrainian) – low and vile revenge of the head of the IBA, Russian Umar Kremlev to Ukraine and Ukrainians for invincibility, stability and adherence to principles.”

“It is a pity that IVA has people who support this theater of the absurd. It is a pity that our young athletes go through such trials and fight for the right to compete under the flag of their state.

And it is very unfortunate that such a mediocre politicized activity of the IBA leadership endangers the participation of boxers in the Olympic Games due to the potential exclusion of boxing from the Olympic program.

It should be reminded that the Board of Directors of the International Boxing Association allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to take part in competitions under the auspices of the IBA. President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine and vice-president of the IBA Volodymyr Prodivus compared the secret ballot for this decision to holding pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Wladimir Klitschko in his address sharply criticized the decision of the International Boxing Federation. In turn, the FBU appealed to all participating countries with a call to prevent representatives of Russia and Belarus from participating in the competition.

The appeal of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine was supported by the Swedish Boxing Association – boxers from Sweden will not compete in IBA tournaments, to which athletes from Russia and Belarus will be admitted.

Earlier, the IBA suspended the activities of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine. The organization considered that the state bodies of Ukraine were interfering in the work of the sports organization.
