Boxer Mikhalkin called MMA athletes’ fights under boxing rules “shitty”

Russian boxer from Irkutsk, former WBO title contender and IBO belt holder Igor Mikhalkin highly rated the level of MMA fighters who hold boxing fights. Earlier it became known that the next rival of Magomed Ismailov will be one of the rivals of boxer Sergei Kovalev, including Mikhalkin, whose boxing statistics are 24 wins and 3 losses.

– And how do you like the boxing practiced by MMA fighters in general? – a question from a correspondent.

– Well, if I can put it that way, then it’s “shit shit”. Can you tell? If it is possible not to watch it, then it is better not to watch it.

Are you talking about a fight in particular?

– Well, let’s say I watched Emelianenko against Koklyaev. Emelianenko is not a boxer, Koklyaev is also not, to put it mildly, a boxer. The result was obvious. I caught the fight between Emelianenko and Datsik, there is also something incomprehensible. Was it according to the rules of boxing? You can activate the boxing of very average guys and it will be better. I wouldn’t call it boxing at all. It is a fight according to the rules of boxing, and there you can already put a football player, a runner, a tennis player and invite them to fight according to the rules of boxing. They will still somehow box by the rules.

At the moment the boxer is training in Irkutsk and will have his next fight in Moscow on October 20 against Server Emurlaev. Mikhalkin trained with Russian national team boxers and turned professional in 2007.
