Gutzeit: In the IBA, the Russian president pushes his athletes to the international arena

The Minister of Youth and Sports wrote a letter to the IOC asking them to respond to the actions of the association

Minister of Youth and Sports Vadim Gutzeit commented on the decision International Boxing Association (IBA) allow Russians and Belarusians to compete.

“This is egregious news for all of us, it is not perceived for us and for the whole world, because from the first day we have been working so that we do not see Russian and Belarusian athletes at the competitions.”

“This is not the first time I have said that in those Federations where there are Russian functionaries, they are doing everything so that their athletes return to performances. And in the IVA, the president is a Russian. We understand that they are pushing their athletes into the international arena.”

“Under the chairmanship [руководителя Офиса Президента] Andrey Yermak, we are together with [Министром иностранных дел] Dmitry Kuleba wrote a letter to the IOC to respond to what the International Boxing Association is doing. The President of the FBU also wrote a letter to the IBA, our well-known boxers appealed to the world community to prevent this from happening.”

It should be reminded that the Board of Directors of the International Boxing Association allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to take part in competitions under the auspices of the IBA.

President of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine and vice-president of the IBA Volodymyr Prodivus said that the vote for the resumption of the participation of boxers from the aggressor countries took place in secret.

Wladimir Klitschko in his address sharply criticized the decision of the International Boxing Federation. In turn, the FBU appealed to all participating countries with a call to prevent representatives of Russia and Belarus from participating in the competition.

The appeal of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine was supported by the Swedish Boxing Association – boxers from Sweden will not compete in IBA tournaments, to which athletes from Russia and Belarus will be admitted.

Earlier, the IBA suspended the activities of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine. The organization considered that the state bodies of Ukraine were interfering in the work of the sports organization.
