The International Boxing Association called the statement by the Polish minister, who criticized the decision to admit the Russians, as racist

Statement by Polish Sports Minister Kamil Bortnichuk on the need to exclude the International Boxing Association (IBA) from membership International Olympic Committee (IOC) exceeds its jurisdiction and is exclusively racist, the IBA press service told .

Bortnichuk has suggested that the IBA be kicked out of the IOC as part of a decision to allow Russians and Belarusians to compete in international tournaments again. On Wednesday, the IBA voted for the admission of boxers from Russia and Belarus to competitions under the auspices of the organization, the athletes will compete under the national flag and with the national anthem.

– The IBA believes that athletes are not divided into good and bad, whether they are friendly or not. For the IBA, everyone is our athlete without any discrimination, and our athletes are the main asset of world boxing.

We regret that this particular minister of the country is trying to create an international political image by proposing to harm all our athletes and exclude them all by ending the recognition of their international federation, as he proposes.

These unacceptable remarks go beyond its political, sporting and geographical field of competence and are purely racist. Obviously, this is the consequence of the fact that he has no particular sports education. And because of this, he has no Olympic knowledge, otherwise he would have carefully read the IOC statutes and the fundamental principles of Olympism.

We will list them so that it is not difficult for him to find them and be able to read them.

4. Playing sport is a human right. Everyone must be able to practice a sport without any discrimination and in the spirit of the Olympic Games, which requires mutual understanding in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.

5. Recognizing that sport is an integral part of society, sports organizations within the Olympic Movement must maintain their political neutrality. They have the rights and duties of autonomy, which include the free establishment and control of the rules of sport, the determination of the structure and management of their organizations, the exercise of the right to vote free from any external influence , and the responsibility to ensure the application of the principles of good governance.

6. The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Olympic Charter must be ensured without discrimination of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political opinions or others, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

The IBA serves the principles of Olympism and the rights of boxing athletes, they are all our athletes without any discrimination. The IBA will not allow politics to interfere with its activities.

The IBA continues its journey of creating a transparent operating system, has institutions and rules and will continue its journey of protecting the rights of all its athletes without exception on an equal footing. The IBA will prevent politics from infiltrating its operations.

The IBA will ensure the unhindered participation of all our athletes with their national symbols and will apply its decisions and regulations in all cases where there are obstacles to the participation of our athletes. At the IBA, we only play sports, and that’s what we will continue to do,” the IBA press office told .
