The American boxer wants to defeat the Ukrainian and regain the championship belt.

American heavyweight Deontay Wilder has announced his desire to fight WBA, WBO and IBF world champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.

Wilder said he is aiming for a title shot after his fight with Finn Robert Helenius.

“If I have a choice, then of course I will go after Usyk. I will go after Usyk, take the titles, and then give Andy Ruiz a chance. That’s how it works. Whoever goes that way? We are in this business to achieve greatness and collect belts. So, if you have a champion giving you a chance, why should you give it up?

There are times when people turn down a title fight, but that’s just because they’re not ready. If you’re physically fit and ready to fight anybody, you have to take this opportunity,” Wilder told Boxing News 24.

It will be remembered that Deontay and Robert will fight on October 15 in the United States.

Earlier, Deontay Wilder expressed hope that Oleksandr Usyk would keep his word and face him in the ring.
