Klimas: Usyk is only interested in the unification of the belts

Tyson Fury is the priority target of the Ukrainian in the near future

Egis KlimasWBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion manager Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), said that the priority goal of the Ukrainian boxer for the next fight is the WBC champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs). Usyk rejected other candidates for the duel.

“At the moment, we are only interested in unification, unification of the belts with Fury,” Klimas said.

Previously, the manager said that there is an opportunity to fight with Fury in February 2023. Usik, according to Klimas, went to the front line to support the Ukrainian military, and in two weeks he will be ready to start training.

Frank Warren, Fury’s co-promoter, also claimed that the Usyk-Fury fight could take place early next year. Before that, Tyson plans to hold one more fight.

Recall that Fury was supposed to fight with Briton Anthony Joshua, but the parties failed to agree on the terms and sign a contract for the fight. Fury’s side says that AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn is to blame for the disruption of the fight.

Fury, after defeating Dillian Whyte in April, announced his retirement twice, but the boxer never vacated the WBC championship belt. On social networks, Tyson has repeatedly discussed a possible fight with Usyk.

In his last fight for the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title, Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua. Following the results of all twelve rounds, Alexander defeated Joshua by a split decision: 115-113, 116-112 and 113-115.

Immediately after defeating Anthony in a rematch, Usyk challenged WBC champion Tyson Fury to a fight. Then the Ukrainian said that the fight against Fury in December is impossible.
