Fighter Oleinik on possible retirement: ‘I’m not ready to decide or say anything yet’

Russian heavyweight Alexei Oleinik declined to comment on the fact of being banned from the UFC roster, but said he was not yet ready to announce his retirement.

Oleinik (60 wins, 17 losses, 1 draw) began his MMA career in 1996 and has been playing in the UFC since 2014. Currently, the Roster Watch website account has reported that Oleinik has been excluded from the ranks of the organization’s fighters.

“I’m not ready to decide and say anything yet,” replied Oleinik when asked by the correspondent about the end of his career.

Oleinik also clarified that right now he really has no contractual obligations to the UFC, but neither is the fighter announcing the end of relations with the promotion.

The Russian has had one victory in the last five fights, Oleinik’s total stats in the UFC are 9 wins, 8 losses. Oleinik is the promotion record holder for the number of performances among all Russians. His last fight was in Florida against Ilir Latifi and ended in a unanimous decision loss.

The fighter led the first two UFC tournaments in Russia. The athlete’s last officially published fee was $205,000 (including a $50,000 bonus for the win).
